Paul C. Bogdan

I am currently doing research on AI safety and interpreting LLMs.

I previously did a postdoc at Duke University, focusing on how the brain encodes information. Before that, I finished a PhD at the University of Illinois, studying statistical methods, memory, and social decision-making. My most notable project was a meta-science study on statistical robustness in psychology from 2004 to 2024 (see Meganalysis). My favorite theoretical work was this unpublished piece, which tries to unify research on how people evaluate and respond to others’ behavior.

Outside of work, I enjoy sports. My favorite teams are the hopeless Chicago Bears and the hopeful Illini basketball team. I also like leisurely data science projects, such as these two analyses of fan sentiment after wins and losses.

Feel free to contact me about anything (email preferred).
